GHANA AND PERU HELD AN INAUGURAL POLITICAL CONSULTATION IN LIMA, PERU, TO DEEPEN BILATERAL RELATIONS

Ghana and Peru held their inaugural Political Consultation in Lima, Peru, on 16th September 2025. The meeting marked an important step toward deepening bilateral relations, which were formally established on 23rd June 1987. It was co-chaired by Ambassador Muhammad Adam, Director-General of the Foreign Service Institute of Ghana, and Ambassador Jorge Raffo, Director-General for Africa, the Middle East, and Gulf Countries.
During the session, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political dialogue and highlighted Political Consultation as a key mechanism for enhancing bilateral coordination. Discussions covered a wide range of issues, including a visa waiver agreement, technical cooperation in trade, tourism, investment, culture and arts, mining, education, defence and security, and an air services agreement.
Looking ahead, the two countries expressed their anticipation of celebrating this.
