In the spirit of South-South Cooperation and the enduring ideals of Pan-Africanism, the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Brasília had the honour of hosting the Meeting of the Group of African Heads of Mission on 23 June 2026 at San Marco, Brasília.
The meeting brought together Heads of Mission and representatives of African diplomatic missions accredited to the Federative Republic of Brazil to deliberate on matters of common interest, strengthen diplomatic solidarity, and reaffirm the collective commitment of African nations to unity, cooperation, and shared development.
In his welcome remarks, His Excellency Nii Amasah Namoale, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Brazil, warmly welcomed the distinguished participants and reaffirmed Ghana’s unwavering commitment to fostering closer collaboration among African missions in Brazil. He underscored the importance of unity as the foundation for advancing Africa’s common aspirations and ensuring that the continent speaks with one voice on issues of global significance.
Ambassador Namoale expressed Ghana’s profound appreciation to fellow African countries for their unwavering support at the United Nations in securing the landmark resolution recognizing the historical injustice of the trafficking and racialized chattel enslavement of Africans as among the gravest crimes against humanity. He described this achievement as a testament to the strength of African solidarity and a significant milestone in the global pursuit of historical justice, remembrance, and human dignity.
The Ambassador also highlighted key policy initiatives of the Government of Ghana under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, including the transformative “Big Push” infrastructure programme and the flagship 24-Hour Economy Programme, both aimed at accelerating economic growth, industrialization, job creation, and sustainable national development. He reaffirmed Ghana’s position as an attractive destination for trade and investment and announced the forthcoming 2026 Investing in Ghana Webinar Series, encouraging members of the African diplomatic community and their respective business networks to participate.
Concluding his address, Ambassador Namoale emphasized that Africa’s unity remains its greatest strength in an increasingly complex international environment. He encouraged continued collaboration among African missions in Brazil and extended Ghana’s best wishes to all African nations participating in the ongoing FIFA World Cup, celebrating their achievements as a source of pride and inspiration for the continent.
The meeting concluded in the traditional spirit of African fraternity, reinforcing the shared commitment of the African diplomatic corps in Brasília to deepen cooperation, promote mutual understanding, and advance the common interests of Africa through dialogue, solidarity, and partnership.
